Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a famous Indian actress, best known for her role in the films Beta Saajan and Hum Haiin Koun..! Her career began acting during the 80s. The actress became popular for the movie Tezaab with veteran actor Anil Kooor. In her next film Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she started learning dance at an early age. As a teenager She began to act and struggled for years because most of her early films failed. The actress gained fame and was one of India's top film actresses. After her wedding, she took a brief break from her acting career prior to returning. In recent times, she was in an important role as a character in Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women across India. Dixit is nominated to win 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri - the fourth most highly regarded civilian award in India is awarded to Dixit. Her reputation also includes for her social activism.
